Climate Control - Auto and Vents

I see that others have posted on this in the past but nobody seemed to have an answer. When I put the heat on Auto, it defaults to blowing the heat down to the feet vents. I can change it so it does the front vents and feet but when I get back in the car it defaults back to feet only. How do I set it to keep the settings I prefer?

Don't be so quick to dismiss Heavy. stoofner, the heater defaults to the windshield and feet vents. You cannot change the default nor make it remain after turning the car off. I found this "feature" to be annoying and thought it was a Honda mistake, but I have read other car manuals that state this is the default heater setting. I suppose car manufacturers have accepted this as the best solution. It probably assumes that you will need the windshield to remain warm, and the only other available vent with the windshield is the feet.

My previous car was a 2000 TL and the default when choosing Auto was either vent and feet or what you had left it on when shutting down the car last, I can't recall which.

The first part is probably true. The second part I always thought was because heat rises.

it is an annoyance for sure. I wish, as in fighter a/c we had a last left setting. When i shutdown all my settings are remembered in memory and when i start up again they are refreshed. Yes the A/C is most PIA of these...
