Hey, Anyone have any trouble with their climate control? I have a 2005 RL and I am having intermittent trouble with AC blowing warm air, low air volume as well as defrost not working. It will work for a while then stop working then start up again. Kind of weird. Any help out there?

search isn't working yet. The 05 RL has had problems with the a/c, take it to your dealer to repair under waranty.

Poor A/C Performance or A/C Doesn’t Work

Currently Applies To: ’05–06 RLs

Got a vehicle in your shop because the A/C runs poorly or doesn’t work at all? A bad field coil in the

A/C compressor clutch could be the culprit.

To determine if this is the case, connect the HDS, go to the DATA LIST, and monitor the A/C switch and

A/C clutch relay signals. If the DATA LIST indicates that the A/C switch and A/C clutch relay are on—and

the A/C compressor clutch isn’t working—refer to step 4 on page 21-91 of the ’05–08 RL S/M and measure

the resistance of the field coil. (Online, enter keyword COMPRESSOR CLUTCH and select A/C

Compressor Clutch Check from the list.) If the resistance isn’t to spec, replace the field coil with

P/N 38924-RJA-A01.


The above was posted before and happened to be exactly what was wrong with my climate control on my 05 RL. I had the same intermittent trouble you are having. Since I got the new field coil 3 weeks ago Ive been all good.
