Nice work Portland.
Nothing shows the RLs luster more than NBP. And similarly, my OBP RL will also show ever superficial swirl, scratch and fallout pitting in the paint.
I love the finish of the RL, but I too gripe that Honda's environmentally friendly paint is too fragile.
I am floored you removed the wheels and cleaned out the reverse side. I do the wheel wells, engine bay and all the jams every wash...but I have yet to take the wheels off for cleaning the back!
Detailing my RL is my therapy. It is my stress release. What is your excuse?
Until our car wash ban is lifted here in Tampa Bay, I have been building up a lot of missed therapy frustration. But I think when the ban is lifted I might have to send you a plane ticket to detail my RL. I think I can 'learn' to watch someone else do it.

Cleaning the barrels of the wheels just makes the car look that much closer to showroom new. Everybody expects the face and spokes to be pristine but in that same turn, they expect the backsides to be black from brake dust, road tar, and the like. But when somebody sees silver all the way through, it shows that somebody really went to town. Heck, I even wiped down the lugs and used Q-tips to clean up under the tire stems.

I take it your car wash ban is due to a water shortage? That would frustrate me beyond belief. If you want me to come down, now's the time...I'm out of work.
But the person you should really be taking tips from is this guy. I aspire to this man's level of detail.
Thanks.

You did comment on the main page but thanks for your comments here are also due.
Yes. Tampa Bay has a car wash ban, amoung lawn watering restrictions, etc.
Florida has been in a severe drought. And although our rainy season started a little earlier this season (in late May instead of typical mid June) the bans and restrictions have not been lifted.
You cannot wash your car at home. You must use a commercial car wash or pressure was facility. I only use touch free washes, but as we all know, they can only do so much. Plus they tend to recycle the water, so I am not too confident with the water quality. When washing at home, I even use soft water with the hose connected to my water conditioner. As I said...it is therapy.

Nice Work!
That RL looks great!
Detailing my cars is great therapy and I always enjoy the results.
Does your dad's RL have the clear bra? I noticed the blue tape 1/2 way up the hood.......I have not taped off my clear bra when detailing but will try it the next time as I spend a lot of time detailing around the clear bra line with product build-up.
Also, tks for the CMBS sensor masking tip! I had failed to catch that in my owners manual.
