My friend's 05 RL gave him the power steering warning light the other morning on a cold start..the light stayed on for about 10 seconds as he was backing out of his driveway but then went out, and he hasn't seen it come on again since.

The car had not been started in about 4 days and during that time it has been the coldest weather the car has seen since he's owned it, never any warmer than about -7C during the day and down to -15C at night.

Just chalk this up to the cold and nothing to worry about (assuming the light doesn't come back)?

 

did he have the recall done?

 

Did he check the power steering?





Namely the fluid since that may not seem obvious...

 

Fluid is fine, and the car did have the power steering hose recall or whatever it was a few years ago done

 

Could be so many things. I agree that until it does it again, there is no need to worry about it.
