changing the gear shift bulb
changing the gear shift bulb
Hi, I have a 2005 rl and I was wondering how I would change the bulb for the shifter????
Has anyone done this? Or know how??? I bought the buld from acura... Just need to know how
To open up the shifter! Lol
Thanks in advance!

If you mean the wood knob, it just screws off. Just unscrew, it takes a lot of turns and is really tight, but eventually it comes off, then the same thing with the wood one, screw it back on. You can do it in less than five minutes. No need to open up the shifter.
I practically stole my wood shift knob on Ebay for $39.00 Spankin' new.
My only question: Has anyone had the Acura symbol wear off of the top of the knob? I try to not touch the symbol too much in case it does wear off.
Its just a small, cool ass detail I like.

Once you get the shift knob off, you need to CAREFULLY lift up the console panel that contains the heated seat switches and 12V outlet. That piece is a royal pain in the neck to take out, and you'll think you are breaking it because its well secured to the console. There are four tabs, one on each corner of the piece. You need to pry those up. You can use a flat blade screwdriver to get some leverage but becareful not to scratch anything! I usually wrap a flat blade in electrical tape to prevent scratching.
The back tabs (the ones near the cupholder) should come up pretty easy...its the ones in the front that are a pain in the neck.

read the op and title. A bulb is not a shift knob.

For you fellows who enjoy doing your own work such as replacing "bulbs", even the wooden ones. LOL. I bought this about a month ago and it's well paid for it's self. I replaced the bulb for the sunroof sw. and I would have been in trouble not haveing these tools. Cant beat the price and it dont damage/scratch up your baby.

The guy at the carwash pulled the fabric cover from the center display. Of course the car wash denied reponsibility. The shop manual shows it held by four clips but the set you linked would have been nice to pry up the cover.
