Changes/Improvements from '05RL to '06RL
It's been 2 weeks since I replaced my '05RL with an '06RL. Here are some of the changes/improvements (in no particular order) that I have noticed:
1. A traffic incident menu item appears when pressing the enter button from the map display. Selecting this menu item lists all the traffic incidents within 100 miles of your present location. The traffic incident item replaced the current position menu item on the '05. The current position is now a left click off the icon menu.
2. Sensitivity of the touch door lock/unlock seems improved and reacts virtually instantly.
3. The MID display now indicates when you are in accessory position.
4. The annoying beeping when exiting the vehicle when the headlights are in delayed turn off mode has been eliminated.
5. The CD/DVD player now supports WMA files as well as MP3s.
6. When you display the audio screen in XM mode, the names of the stations are now filled in within 2 minutes after starting the vehicle. With the '05 even after TSB# 05-022, the only way I could get all the stations to fill in was to switch from XM1 to XM2 or XM2 to XM1.
7. There are two blue LED's on the Onstar overhead panel that glow when the ignition is on. (I don't recall these on the '05, but I could be wrong).
8. The backup camera is located in the center of the trunk lid where the latch button was located on the '05. The trunk is now opened my pressing a small button on the far right of the trunk lid.
9. The backup color camera works quite well in daylight and using the backup lights as a light source at night. Because it is extremely wide-angle objects are actually much closer than they appear.
10. I find the ride of the PAX run-flats is as good as the original tires on the '05RL.
