The tech at acura said, the key is in the car and that it is probably lodged under the seat and that they're going to have to take the seats out. But if they find it, I'll have to pay for that labor, if they don't...I won't.

So I bagged it and figured I'd be able to find it, but... I can't.

This sucks. I'll take it in again I guess.
^^^I don't understand why you don't just do this. You have nothing to lose really. If they take the seats out and don't find the key it costs you nothing. If they take out the seats and find your key the issue is resolved. Sure, you'd have to pay them the labor costs but it would fix a problem that you couldn't seem to fix yourself. It just blows my mind that you've let this go for 4 months. Even you said, anybody could just get in your car and drive off. I don't know that your insurance company would cover a vehicle that was stolen because the keys were left in it. I would imagine it would fall into some sort of negligence loophole.

I'll be taking it into the dealership soon to do this.

I've been busy and don't like to take time off work to do stuff like this. But I'll get to it soon. Not too worried about it being stolen.

I'll go look for the FOB again today. I would be so pumped if I found it. But I have done this 8 times already and so has the Acura dealer once and we can't find it.

Don't mean to bring up an old post but did you ever find your second key?

I'm assuming either the OP or the dealership found the fob in the car. That was really the only explanation.

Was hoping the OP would tell us what the out come was. Here's a little story in same vein... Went to Lake Anna this weekend and took my spare key, put in passenger door map holder... Wasn't till i kept going to open the door in morning and expecting the "Normal" unlock indications that i forgotten the key in side door and CAR would not lock !!! Imagine that;-)

ding ding ding.

the problem is fixed. The dealership removed the drivers seat and found the key. It cost me 96 dollars in labor. I don't know how or why I couldn't find it on my own, and the dealership couldn't either without removing the seat.

The key fob costs like 500 bucks to replace, so now I am back up to 2 of them.

Yeah, but the bigger question is "where" under the seat was it found? Did it slip under some carpet? Stick up under the seat cushion? Or some other odd place? Curious minds want to know.

My bet is under the seat towards the rear (under the seat frame)....

the bigger question would be, how did it get there
