Question Can you read?

Well, of course you can read. Otherwise you wouldn't be here.

But the question is can you read the lighted buttons on the steering wheel at night? On my '06 there is just the faintest little glow to the buttons, so as to let me know where they are. True, I know what most of them are for by now, but in my TL, for example, I can clearly read the captions on the buttons. And I have the gauge brightness as high as I can tolerate.

Is this common in RL's, or is mine just dim? It doesn't matter a lot, since I still love the car, but I'm just curious.

Same thing here... the lights on the steering are much dimmer than the brightness of the gauges... Changing the brightness of the gauges has no effect on the steering wheel buttons.....

I don't know.... hmm.... mine seem plenty bright. ANy more and it would be distracting in very dark conditions.

Actually, yeah! The little voice recognition button, for example, seems to be in an awkward place for me, and I can't find it without looking (day or night). I haven't even gotten to where my thumb falls naturally on the cruise control buttons, even though I use cruise bunches of times every day. And then there's those MID controls you use to check mpg and tire pressure, etc.

At night everything is just compunded, so the lights are almost a necessity for me.

Mine are somewhat on the dim side, too. Definitely better than nothing, but they could stand to be a little brighter. The relative effect is lessened if you dim the rest of the dash lights.

Still, I like that they're lit.

It was one of the first things I noticed or rather didn't notice when I took ownership of my RL. After a while, you get accustomed to where everything is and it's not that big of a deal.
