Well....I did it....backed out of a driveway & damaged the underside of the left bumper.....paint scraped and dented....can the bumper be reasonably matched with paint?

It may be easier and cheaper to simply buy a new pre-painted bumper cover from Acura. In addition, the cover is not hard to remove and replace yourself-I removed mine to install backup sensors and was surprised at how straightforward it was to remove and replace the cover.

Before going to a completely new bumper (which I considered when I scraped my front bumper while parking), you might ask your dealer or ask around for a competent paint/dent specialist...most dealers use one. My scrape was on the bottom lip of the front bumper...and he touched up a few more items that I'd not even noticed.

These guys are pretty good...I had a dent in my '94 Honda when purchased new...I flipped out and pitched a holy fit, but the dealer brought in one of these guys, and he completely obliterated the dent without even taking anything apart...still driving the Honda, btw.

If it's just the bottom of the bumper, perhaps it's a good time to consider ordering the A-Spec body kit?

My wife got rear ended last xmas and we were informed that Acura does not sell bumpers pre-painted. They come primed and then have to be painted (& blended) by a body shop. But on the otherhand, the A-Spec kit comes pre-painted.

I'd stay away from blending of any kind on this type of repair. With the paint matching technology available in better body shops, you should be able to avoid the problems that come with paint blending. It is curious that Acura sees fit to sell prepainted A-spec parts but not standard body parts such as the bumper covers-go figure.

Body shop visit

thanks for all the feedback, I went to a reputable body shop today....the owner said they could repair the damage & repaint the section of the bumper & it would be as good as new......cost=$550......my RL is leased, but.....it's worth the peace of mind............

You will probably scrape it again wait until you turn in the car and do it then.
