2006 RL

110K miles

dealer stated car has a broken tranny mount. after tranny fluid exchange, tranny changes gears very smoothly (last fluid change was 50K miles ago).

i've had broken/worn engine mounts (2) on this car before. Is this normal? how many tranny mounts are there? how critical (how soon) must I fix this considering I am going to lease a new MDX next month?? thx.

 

btw, I don't trust these dealers/mechanics as same dealer also stated battery failed but I took it to local mechanic (Bosch 3 year warranty, had it for 2 yrs) and he said it needed to have terminals cleaned and lubed which Sears/dealer doesn't seem to do on regular oil changes. cranks showed fine on the battery test at local mechanic.

so that's what you get for $22 oil change at sears...

 

Second opinion? Jack the car up and look yourself? If you aren't getting major clunking (sound or physical) then there isn't a whole lot to worry about.

 

My front and side motor mounts were worn out and my mechanic showed me the worn part after he installed the new ones. I had 90,000 miles on my 2006 RL. He said that the only time the rear trans mount is under stress is when you put the transmission in reverse. and that they last a lot longer than the front and side mounts.

 

Im An Acura Tech And In The Five Years Ive Been With Acura Ive Seen 2 Trans Mounts Go Bad And That Was On Cars That Were 10+ Years Old Id Be Wary About That And Get A Second Opinion.
BTW, Was It An Acura Dealer You Brought It To?
