Bought certified 09 RL
Hey guys,
Let me first say, I found lots of information on this website.
Picked up an 09 Acura RL Tech with Alberta White Pearl. 50k mi Love the car!
Unfortunately had to deal with an unprofessional dealer. Turns out the color of the ATF was brown... Found out after we took it home...
I'm planning to change it out, drain and refill 3x. Do you guys know where to get some ATF-Z1 DW1 for cheap?
3qts for transmission and 4 qts for the diff. I also notice the transfer case uses a gear oil. Do you guys think it would be fine to switch to this http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...us_80W-90.aspx ?
For you 09+ RL owners, did you find noises coming from the transmission?
Thanks guys!

To do a 3x3 you will need 10 quarts of either ATF-Z1 or ATF-DW1. It is 2.7 qts per drain. There are instructions here by Chas2 that talk about driving between fill and drain to engage all gears and torque converter in 1st and 5th. I bought my DW1 from oemacuraparts.com b/c the discount + shipping was still less than my local dealer, gas + time not included.
You are right about the 4 qts for the rear diff. You can only use ATF-Z1 or Dual Pump Fluid II. You CANNOT use DW1 in the rear diff.
The manual states that any 80W-90 hypoid gear fluid, API service classified GL4 or GL5 will do.
The dealer is supposed to check the fluids for CPO and replace accordingly. I cannot imagine any noises would be normal, but changing the ATF may solve the problem. Good luck!
Welcome to Azine! Post pics. What interior?

Thanks guys for the replies!
I went to that website and couldn't find the fluids there. I mean I found the genuine fluids section, but it says not found. Weird....
So no DW-1 on the rear diff?! That sucks! I heard it's hard to find regular ATF-Z1... Could you point me to where you found this? (Not like second guessing you) It's just interesting to me.
Anyways, the BS with the dealer is that the technician puts in the order to have it replace, but the manager gets the last call. How BS is that! I hope they replace it. It's in service to get the amplifier fixed. It was making some static noise in the tweeter, even with the radio off.
I'll post some pix as soon as I polish and clean that baby up. Taupe interior I believe. I love the white a lot!

Post 9 has the part numbers. There is a different thread for the 3x3 flush.

What a wise purchase. I have a 2007 silver but have to admit that I have my eyes on your white RL. I think the 09-11 white RL with the ivory interior is the most attractive car on the road. The interior and exterior are top of the line. Hope you enjoy yours for many many years. If you don't message me for a sale.

Yea, previously to the purchase, I saw one on the freeway, and it looked sooo sweet! When you see the car in person, it's totally different than looking at the picture, it is so much nicer. <3 Alberta White Pearl!
I'll keep you guys posted. w

RL's can't pose for crap. To this day I have not figured that one out. Pros can make them look good, but 90% of the time the car looks average in a picture. In person,

I think the back is average, but the side profile and the front looks pretty nice IMO. Planning to clay bar the car, polish, and wax soon. Should bring out the nice metallic and pearl. I'll post some pix soon!
I finished cleaning and conditioning the leather yesterday. Sooo much better!
