Blew Transmission on my 05

Have owned my RL for about a year, have done everything to motor service-wise - timing belt (6 Months), a/c compressor, power steering pump, SRAI intake, new starter, plugs, battery, back-up camera, BT45 bluetooth interface, new rotors all around (3 days ago), new Kuhmos (3 months), rear diff (2 weeks), oil change (2 weeks). Only thing I didn't do is get a fill up yesterday on the way home...Drove to work in the AM, the trans was slow to engage in reverse and drive in the 8f cold (thats what I though). Drove to work, no problem. Driving home 8 hours later at about 60mph, hit the gas to pass a car, the trans slipped and it revved all the way to the redline....completely slipped. I had a few trans issues recently - twice in the last two days I had to jiggle shifter to start - the second time I just put it in neutral, started right up. Thought it was the Neutral safety switch, actually ordered one. So. Now this great car is in the shop, awaiting diagnosis from my trans guy. We shall see. In the meantime, I am already thinking of parting.....

I know virtually nothing about the RL; does it use the same transmission as in the 2006-2007 Accord V6 models?

Have your technician do the 3x drain & fill using Honda ATF. THis is a common procedure that is preformed on Hondas & Acuras to clean accumulated gunk & varnish out of the tranny. Worth a try before you either replace the tranny or start parting out the car.

Well that's a bummer considering the drivetrain and transmission is bullet proof om these RLs.

Check for low ATF.

Inspect screens for blockage on the Linear solenoids and pressure switches.

Thanks for the suggestions all! I am having him do a drain and fill, and checking selenoids/sensors/ etc. Again, this is the 2nd trans in this vehicle, replaced before I owned.

See attached CarFax, trans replaced locally at 154k. car has 204k at failure. Called transmission place, have a 3yr/36000 miles warranty. I'm screwed. I am renting a 2018 Camry with 2300 miles, compared to my poor RL (thats 13 years old and 200k+ miles) th Camry is crap. Rattles, buzzy, no power compared to RL. Of course, the shitty Toyota IS running.

will the 3.5 SHAWD bolt up to the 3.7l SHAWD tranny!?
curious, as the Gentleman is selling the car for $2k and it would be an awesome project car to swap a 6MT from the SHAWD TL into it. probably have to figure out ECU stuffs.

I'm planning on buying a TIG welder to fab up my own turbo kit.
would be fuckin awesome to get 6MT+SHAWD+turbo= 400-600HP

Update - after sitting for two days in the lot at mechanic, he started it up, was able to move forward and reverse. He put it in park, left it for awhile, and it was again not engaging in drive. Weird. He is going to get into it monday...

Practically the same thing happened to me in my 05 with 105k. I was on the highway going about 75 mph and the car just slipped out of gear when I went to pass. The torque converter was rebuilt, and 4th & 5th gear were burnt looking, so I had the transmission rebuilt. I got lucky though, my father in law is a transmission builder and did this for me at his shop for $900. I rented a Jeep Cherokee for 10 days or so. Talk about crappy and slow.
