black roof on the RL?

I see a bunch of the TL guys painting/putting vinyl to make their roofs black. I made this very quick photochop of my car to see what it would look like.. what do you think -- yay or nay?

you have to have a matching theme...I think it would look good. I did consider this at one point.

you need carbon hood and trunk! But the RL has stock light weight aluminum parts so that is why owners dont do it.

It looks like they wish they'd gotten an e-class with the glass roof. But, since this isn't an e-class, it just looks goofy.

nay..... looks like an incomplete roof repair.... ran out of white paint..... kept the roof sheet metal in original color:P

unless the entire roof is glass..... in that case, might as well have an open top RL..... you'll be the first one with convertable RL:P

Do you have White Pearl? Painting the roof black will kill your resale value, so you'll have to paint it back....and matching a pearl paint is a pain, a big pain.

Nice idea but I'd skip it.

Vinyl or canvas No way. If it was glass, like the Benz it or REALLY shiny, it wouldnt be to bad. Actually kinda like it on the white.

It works with some cars (new M3 for example)... the RL isn't one of them. Skip.

Cars with vinyl roofs-next it will be bell bottoms and leisure suits. Oops, they're already back in style!

If you did it, you would have to go with a black antenna fin as well.

BIG nay!

Seems like your following the crowd of sheep in my honest opinion. Doesnt really seem to have a function or even look good at all so why do it? Because others have done so? Sorry but i think some things are just better left to the rice boys trying to keep with current trends. Like SKINNY JEANS!

I'd have to say nay. There are other places to invest your efforts that won't be as permanent or bring the value down. I agree with the previous comment " TL yes RL no"

as is, it doesn't look good. If you made the front end a bit more aggressive looking and changed up a few small things here and there, it would work really nicely.

A bit of trivia for everyone....the original reason Vinyl or "Landau" roof treatments came to be in the first place was so the Big 3 wouldn't have to send cars with paint defects back through for repairs.

Instead, slap some cheap vinyl on it, charge MORE for it as an "upgrade", and no one is the wiser.

Just do what YOU like. You're the one driving it. Quit letting others decide what you want.

it definitely has to be a lot to accent the roof, you can't go black roof without wheels tints as well as other stuff, but at the end of the day it's what you like........i think blazin's roof came out good cause he has dark wheels tints and modded his headlights so it accents well
