best place to advertise a 2006 RL
I am considering turning in my 2006 RL and wondered about the best place to sell it. Has anyone used craigslist? I would trade it in but because it just turned 100K I don't think the dealer would give me what its worth.
Has a new timing belt, new plugs and has been kept up with all maintenance minders. Plus I had purchased and never used, the 120,000 mile extended warranty which I believe is transferable. I drive 25K per year and so thought that I might as well get what I can for it now. Dealer told me 10-12 is trade-in but I haven't spoken seriously with them yet.

you have to weigh the pros and cons here.
Free advertising = a bunch of people wasting your time that do not want to buy it in the first place. You also risk getting robbed or having the car damage or stolen. (yes I realize that is an extreme)
Paid advertising = works well, obviously costs money, and doesn't 100% eliminate the above. Also your listing is only as good as their publicity. i.e. AutoTrader and eBay are well know and easily found via google, others may not be.
My advice, google key words you would use if you were shopping and see what sites you would buy from and use all the free options you can tolerate.

I have to say when selling my older lexus, Autotrader was the best. A suggestion, i strongly recommend buying the "unlimited" length package. You'll see selling it privately, can take a bit of time, lot of people out there who waste your time.
I hate to ask here, but i've been looking for an extra winter car, and i'd be VERY interested in yours. I live in michigan, and been looking for some time. if you dont mind contacting me, its vinodc at gmail dot com
mods, sorry if i'm not allowed to post email, with interest to buy.

I think autotrader would be good. We sold a Tiburon through Craigslist and met the seller at a public place then their bank so it was a safe place for both of us. But I think once you get over $7,000 - $8,000 you are getting into financing so it is harder to find a buyer. The price the dealer is offering you seems low. Have you looked it up in NADA guides as to price? There is a recession on so don't expect miracles as to the price you will get.
