Anyone have this problem?

Ive searched the known quirks, etc, thanks Petemc for the awesome work on this.
A couple of times now, after stopping and parking the vehicle, the key wont turn the ignition switch to the On position. it barely moves at all. I figured out you have to move the steering wheel a little back and forth with your left hand while trying to gently turn the key in the switch, and lucky for us, we have been able to get the key to turn all the way clockwise to start the car. This used to happen alot on older GM vehicles; is this something new or do I just have this problem? This '05 RL barely has 2400 gently used miles and spends alot of time sleeping in the garage. Apologize if this has been discussed earlier and I missed the posts DanF

Has happened to me a couple of times. I just wiggle the wheel and it works fine.

You might also try to wiggle the shifter.

Wiggling the wheel works for me. Other cars have this problem, also.

This is a good thing. This demonstrates that the steering column interlock is working. I'd rather this minor inconvenience than have the steering column interlock fail or not work.

What is the purpose of the interlock? Thanks in advance.

It is to keep cars from starting and accidently going into gear.
You must press the brake to shift.

The steering wheel lock is also to (supposedly) prevent someone from hot-wiring the car and then driving it away because it prevents the steering wheel from turning unless you've used the key.
