Anyone has Rearview Camera Attachment?
Looks like the (PN: 08B21-SJA-200) Rearview Camera Attachment is discontinued. I would like to add the Reaview Camera to my 2006 RL but without this attachment I'm out of luck.
Any know any place that may have it? Or have one around they like to sell?
Thanks.

Here is an Ebay deal for the camera but without the attachment it is useless...

Where did you get that part number? I would buy this one. http://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-par...4890-sja-j02zf
EDIT: Looks like oemacuraparts has it. http://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-par.../08b21-sja-200

I'm sure you could find it somewhere if you search around enough. I know when I was looking at it a year or so ago they were available. If anything, you might be able to find one from a totaled car being parted out. Still going to be way easier, and probably cheaper, to go the NavTool route. Lots of members have it and I don't recall seeing any complaints about it. I've had mine for a little over a year. Fairly easy to install, works with pretty much any aftermarket rearview camera. Also gives you an auxiliary video input.
Called the local dealer yesterday and he can get it for $170, BUT after doing a bit of research it turns out that OEM camera is not compatible with the 05 RL, so navtool plus aftermarket camera is the only option for 05 owners, including myself.

When you compare to Acura prices, you understand why...
I still don't understand. I am assuming the OP's part number is for the accessory option. I posted the part number for the factory integrated trim panel that houses the camera. I believe psheu documented his DIY mod with this part.
I bought that same camera from Ebay for $90 and recently bought the camera attachment/installation kit not too long ago for $140 (about a month ago). I did the install myself, I will look at the part number to see if my local dealer can still order it.
BTW, I have an 07 non-tech but I installed the Navi unit from an 07 and did the 06 rearview camera install (where you have to relocate your trunk release to the right).

That is cool (about the attachment being available) - which dealer is it? Thanks.

The camera installation kit was purchased at Elk Grove Acura in California.

Hi, I have just the Acura/Honda camera and I'm trying to install the camera without the installation kit (since they are virtually impossible to find). Is there any way I can get you to pin out the cable that came in the kit (6 pin end to 7 pin) so I can get my camera to work. They apparently made some strange wire crossings in the cable because the instructions show completely different connections at the 6 pin connector than the service manual shows at the nav unit(7 pin). I am getting the nav unit to acknowledge that the camera is there when I shift to Reverse, but no picture... Thanks!!!

Let me check w/ my local dealer if they have the install kit in stock. When I purchased it they didn't have to special order it, they already had it in stock. I'll report back.
If that doesn't play out then I'll look at some wiring diagrams to see what I can find.
I'm confused by this thread. Are you all trying to upgrade your cameras, or did they actually make RL's without backup cameras, and you are trying to add a new one?
My 06 (non tech) has a camera, but it has faded out, and I want to replace it. Should I just order the OEM one from eBay, or should I look at the NavTool one?

Yup 05 never had the option. 06 was an accessory add on. 07+ you would need the tech package to have the back up camera.
07-08 never had USB, it's started out w/ the MMC (09-12)

Oh that's weird. I thought the RL came with all that stuff, and the tech pkg just added the radar braking system in 06. So anyways, it sounds like I just need the camera...
As I said I have the Acura factory camera and I'm trying to install it in my 06 which is compatible but does not have it and needs the installation kit. If I can get the wiring figured out I can make a video / tutorial to show others how I did it, but the camera is not coming on and I don't know if I got a bad camera or if it is wired wrong.
The power should come from the nav unit, There are 4 wires in the harness that go all the way to the camera (power and ground to run the camera and signal and signal ground to convey the image back to the nav unit). There are also two more wires at the connection side (opposite end of the harness from the camera). one is the shielding for the cable and the other is a way for the nav unit to tell that a camera is attached so it will switch the display when you go into reverse. I guessed at the connections based on the wire colors at the harness and the wire colors the factory manual says go into the nav unit but not all the colors match and I was able to get the nav unit to recognize the camera and switch the display when I go into reverse but the image is black so I either have a bad camera or when I guessed at the wiring, I guessed wrong and I don't want to just try all the possibilities and possibly fry a good camera....
The installation instructions say to wire the 6 pin connector [Red/Red, Black/black, Brown, Blue/Black, White/White, Yellow/Yellow] from left to right when looking from the harness side with the locking tab of the plug down. What I need to know is how the patch cord that comes with the installation kit routes those six wires from the 6 pin end to the 7 pin end that goes into the nav unit so I can wire the 6 wires into a 7 pin connector and have it work without the patch cord so it will be easy for us who want to add the camera to do the wiring. I have found two different places the same plug is used so we can get the 7 wire plug from a dealership new or from a junk yard used.
I hope this makes the situation clear....

Pictures would make it a lot more clear.
Test your wires; the +,- feed for the camera, when tested should show a AC current that changes when something moves in front of the camera and then make sure your ground is good and the camera power wire is showing 12V when the car is on. The deck is sensing when you go into reverse, which is good, but either your camera isn't powering up, or the signal isn't getting to the screen.

I am connecting the camera wires directly into the nav unit, I don't see how pictures would make that any more clear....
I need someone who has the dealer installed camera (most likely would be an 06 but would also be on a 07 or 08 without the tech package) to unplug the jumper cable from the nav unit and the camera wires and use a multimeter to see which wires on the nav unit end connect to each wire on the camera end.....
If someone could do that for me I would be extremely grateful!!!! Even if you don't know what you are doing I could talk you through it, or if you are in the Denver area I could even do it for you....
