Any RL owners here interested in the new TLX?
I have an 06 RL with 91k miles and the new TLX is looking pretty nice. Many positive reviews out there favoring the 2.4L with Paws. I am definitely gonna take one for a test drive.
Here is one review pulled from the TLX forum

Just wondering what other RL owners think or have any of you test driven one?

Here's another good review, again favoring the 2.4L and its new 8 spd tranny. It also states it blew away the BMW 328i in several categories.

Not interested here, either. We were at the dealership today to have the RL glanced at before another trip tomorrow. We noticed again how the RL has that features you can't even find on the RLX Tech they have on the floor, let alone the TLX. We're not in the market right now, but if we were I might start looking by at something like a nice used ZDX Advance.

I keep seeing this topic surfacing. I am one who will look at an TLX Advance SHAWD when it comes available.
But I also agree with most all the posters who feel it is not above and beyond what the RL already does (sans some new technology features).
I have already stated that I cannot find any $60K car on the market that would draw me out of my RL. I tend to agree that the RL with engineering and technology baked over 10 years ago still holds up very well to what the market offers. In fact if I had to purchase a new car immediately, I find many $30K cars offer up quite nicely to the $60K+ offerings.
But what does it truly mean when I hear over and over Car X does not impress me over the RL? It tells me that Acura has yet to offer a car for an 2nd Gen RL owner to step up to. I like the PAWS RLX, but not enough to step out of my RL. I thought the SH RLX would be the candidate, but I think finding a unicorn is more likely.
On paper the TLX looks good to me. Only until I can drive one configured in Advance SHAWD trim will I be able to assess if it too is not quite a replacement for my RL....even at the attractive price point I see.

I drove a TLX today with tech and the V6, it's small and not for me. I will be keeping my TL, the awd TLX is due in two weeks, it doesn't matter though because Acura messed up on this one. The TLX is to small and the RLX is priced to high, they missed their mark.

I bought an 11 RL Adv. last year, worth about 30k now. A loaded TLX Adv. SH-AWD would be pushing 50k with tax. If I bought a TLX I would be loosing exterior presence(length), interior space, quality of materials, and general refinement. I haven't driven one yet, but I feel as if the car will be a good bit louder, and rougher, and have worse ride quality than the RL(TLX is a sports car), the RL is a luxury car. The est. 0-60 time in SH-AWD models is 6.0 sec, in the RL I can easily get 5.8/5.9. However the 9 speed is sweet, hopefully it doesn't hunt gears, also the new tech. is great, but so much more complex to use; fan of buttons. I prefer the RL any day, I'd be loosing too much with the TLX, and no way in hell will I be spending 20k more for the TLX, I just got the RL last year, and the car has been basically trouble free.

The TLX is not a sports car, the fit and finish is on par with the RLX, so I would assume above the RL. I didnt care for either, I had a RLX for a month as a loaner and did over 6k miles on it. It did ride smooth and was quiet, maybe quieter than the RLX. The dimensions however are smaller, but the RL is pretty damn ugly IMO and the TLX is no looker either. It looks like a 4 door RSX.

I'm not interested in down grading from my RL. I'll have it for a while and when I'm finally done with it we will see what Acura has to offer at that point otherwise my next one will most likely be something along the lines of an Audi or Benz

I am beginning to think I could not own a TLX just because I do not think I have the stomach for that TL/TLX forum.
The hysterics over speculative opinion or bowing vs. conquering to the opinions of others is dumbfounding to me. I have never seen such effort in building a case to affirm ones self that their TSX/TL/TLX/Other Brand car is the golden chalice and anything else is sour grapes. One thing Acura did succeed with, is striking the nerve and uncontrollable need for self affirmation.
Part of my car ownership has been my personal need to participate in a forum of owners. I do not think I could go back to the TL forum without abusing controlled substances and participating in a 12 step program.

What's good is that the all the back and forth is pretty good-natured and intellectual.

What's apparent is that Acura buyers on this forum buy their cars with both their minds and hearts. You can't claim that this tier of Acuras doesn't inspire passion in their owners. Although they are based on Civics and Accords, nobodies buys an Acura because they "need" an Acura (as compared to an appliance, like a Camry or Prius).
What's good is that the all the back and forth is pretty good-natured and intellectual.

"Brock's intellectual banter" is the epitome of an oxymoron.
Hi, broccoli! We sure miss you in Ramblings. It usually helps to drive a car before you opine about it, but we know better than to expect that much logic from you.

So thanks for adding absolutely nothing to this thread. Keep the Rambling in the Ramblings section.

only, he found a time slip on the internet and claimed it was his.
yep, he was from Jersey.
you guys from jersey are all the same.
talk big, but cant back it up.

First off, I wasn't born in NJ, second off I can back up whatever I say and I have and here's the NJ douchebag comment for you, people in NJ/NY make more money per household and can afford higher priced vehicles over other areas of the US, including Texas. Well most of that last part is true, we all know Acuras exist in every state.

Exactly, I figured most guys commenting on this would be RL/RLX owners or 4G guys. It seems most of the guys starting trouble are 3G owners or guys who don't even own an Acura. As I stated in an earlier post I have driven the car before that guy from Texas even commented. I guess if he bothered to read the entire thread he would have saw that.

The post that you quoted is part mine and part of the mod that changed it. I'm starting to see more and more posts under my name that I had nothing to do with. I'm actually looking into legal action now.

I brought my car in for the B16 service today and they gave me a '13 TLX for a loaner. Not a bad little car. I like the nav unit being well recessed into the dash for clarity and the backup camera impressed me only since my RL doesn't have one. The driving impression was that of a zippy little 4 cylinder car that handles well with crisp accelleration (for a 4 cyl) and good braking. The cockpit was comfortable and the controls well laid out. I'm sure the latest TLX is a different beast, but I can only comment on what was given to me.
The winter took its toll on my RL. Not a surprise with all the pot holes, frost heaves, road repairs etc. that jolt the car on a daily basis. They found a broken sway bar and some suspension parts that needed replacement and finally the rear brakes wore out after 94,600 miles. Can't wait to get my RL back tomorrow morning.

You do realize there is a mod on this forum that is actually going into my account and making posts and adding to my posts and removing other parts of my posts. Everything posted under my SN is not necessarily written by me.

I'm assuming you meant TSX since the TLX is a 2015 model and the 2013 TL only comes with a V6.

You are correct sir. I had to go check the key tag to verify. I remember the service guy telling me it was a T....something. Thanks for the correction.
