Any more info on AWD issues, isolated incidents?
I read some where of at least 2 RLs in one town having warning lights and problems with the AWD systems. Techs from CA or somewhere were coming in to look the cars over. Anyone know more about this? If true, major slap in the face for Acura... testing, anyway,
and doesn't add to Honda's image with automatic transmissions.

I swear I saw it in these forums somewhere but I can't find it. RL may not have been in the subject line.
Someone bought an 05 RL, and all the warning lights for the AWD system came on so he took it back to the dealer. While there, another RL was being towed in, which had started smoking in the back axle area with the AWD warning lights coming on. They discussed why the tested MDX tranny should have been used in the RL instead.
I'll keep looking. It said they were bringing in techs to diagnose it.

missing url info above is from
FYI, rear differential was replaced yesterday (Tuesday) and car is ready to be picked up. (Have not driven as I'm out of Town currently). Replacement part did come from Japan and apparently there is a TSB out on the potential problem.

there was a slight misunderstanding and now we are clear on what "these forums" mean. no sense in getting bent out of shape when rl.acurazine is less than a week old.

Update from an owner in another RL forum...
"I received a call back from a fellow from the technical service department who acknowledged that 'yes' there has been a problem with a FEW of the 05RLs 'rear differential' due to an occassional failure at the factory to properly fill the rear differential with sufficient fluid. Dealers were asked to rectify this problem by checking these fluid levels and further, that new vehicles are being checked now even before they arrive at the dealer. Thus, the problem does not seem to be a major glitch with the design of the differential system..."

RL's and Legends have always been reliable and received top-notch care.

SH-AWD is brand new and version 1.x, I'd expect JDM Honda would fix this soon if this news is true.

CR just released their list of most reliable vehicles...the (older) Acura RL is best in its class.
