Thumbs up Another new RL owner... TL convert

Like many, I finally made the switch from the TL to the RL. After 1 day of driving the RL, I have no doubts, I made the right decision.

I went from a 04 SSM TL w/ Navi to a Meteor Silver 06 RL and couldn't be happier... damn those ads "inviting" you to "come in and upgrade"

I took advantage of the promo financing rates and got a great deal.

I'm still getting familiar and setting the personalized settings.

My initial thoughts:
- RL rides very smooth and quiet compared to the TL... a little less pep on startup but I rarely drive that way so it's fine for me. Whoever said the RL is underpowered is certainly mistaken.
- Interior is certainly a step up and the Navi is familiar but I like the different look, seems sharper from my point of view. I like the dash layout and got used to it immediately.
- Center console storage is slightly smaller so I can fit less CD/DVD-A cases in there but that's ok... I transferred my discs to a CD wallet/ binder anyway.
- I like the sound system on the RL better than the on the TL... slightly more crisp sound
- There is a little more room for me than in the TL... I'm 6'2" and about 300 lbs. so I like the extra width.
- I like the leather on the RL much better also. It seems like it will hold up better in the long run than the leather on the TL.
- I like the look of the car and maybe it's just me but I like the elegant RL much more than the sporty TL... Don't get me wrong, the TL is great and I enjoyed it immensely but I feel different in my RL.

All in all, I am happy with my decision. And thanks to all in the TL and RL forums... as always lots of good information and awesome car guys and gals!

I also converted from a TL to an RL today. I had a 2002 TL Type S non-Nav and I echo the comments made by the original poster. It was a touch choice between the RL and the M but the RL seems to be a much better value. I also know that many have said that the RL is not worth the extra money.... but it definitely feels like it (at least on the first day).

I share your observations and joy. I made the swap in January and love the RL more everyday.

I made the switch from my 04TL to an 05 RL almost one year ago. I like the rest of you loved everything about the TL but I have absolutley no regrets switching to the RL. IMO, quieter car, smoother ride and softer seats. I have had no problems with the RL over the last year. When I get up in the morning to head to work, I always have a grin on my face as I head down the road I hope everyone gets us much enjoyment out of this car as I do

I seems to me that everybody with an RL considers the 2 cars far apart and everybody with a TL thinks that they are similar with a $20K price break.
As one may previously read: there is no comparison and besides Honda knew that the 2 cars do not compete with each other.

Thanks all! Glad to be part of the club!

I'm going to the NY Auto Show tomorrow to look at the RDX and concept MDX for my sis...

As far as my RL is concerned... I'm enjoying every minute of it. More luxury is just what I was looking for and I got it.

We went from the 02 TL to an 06 RL. In fact we have two 02 TL's and an 06 RL.

Also went from a '05 TL to a '05 RL. The RL fits my needs much, much better. I'll never look back.

Just curious, why are you selling your RL accessories?

Planned a lot of upgrades (Wooden wheel, custom wheels, suspension, etc.) for this car but decided to leave it stock.

Plus I'm saving for the next M3.
