Aftermarket warranty..should I get it??
My car had to be towed to the shop yesterday. They said that it was the immobilzer that was bad not allowing my car to start. I am waiting for the part to arrive friday. Hopefully that fixes my problem. $500 down the drain ($225 for part and $275 labor). I called my insurance company to see it a rental was included in my roadside assistance and the answer was NO it is not :C. But they offered me a 2 year 24K warranty through assurance (same 3rd party as Verizon uses for their phones) for $1600 for future mishaps. The warranty covers all electrical parts basically everything but normal wear and tear. The car has 77K on it now timing belt is due soon. Should I jump on it or pass???

timing belt at dealer is around $1000., but as heavy says it won't be covered under a warranty

If you are considering the extended warranty with the thought that the cost of the timing belt will be covered, I would first ensure that the particular repair is covered (because as others have mentioned, it's doubtful) under the warranty.

From reading the covered services, looks like the belt is covered.

I think it means covered if it failed prior to recommended maintenance, but not covered if failed after not being replaced at recommended interval
