AFS fix?

My AFS light had been on constantly, but yesterday, I was driving in very heavy rain on the highway, after I start my car again in the coffee shop, the AFS light is gone. But this morning, the light is on again. Could it be the mount sensor being dirty or rusted, which causing the afs to malfunction? Would it help if I take it off to clean it or use some W40 on the joints?

You can't just guess at what is wrong. You need to get the code read to see what is causing the AFS light to come on. The code will pretty much tell you exactly which part is malfunctioning.

it is the stroke sensor and/or the AFS unit, mostly likely the latter as I had my stroke sensor replaced and still had the problem...under warranty. Search around, there is a thread on this, one of the very common problems on these cars.

Today, i went to a car wash, and I spray water on the sensor purposely. When I start the car, the AFS light is gone, I am hoping it will not come back on tomorrow. I really don't wanna take out another few hundred just to have the afs light off, as I am still waitting for my Stator (field coil) to arrive to fix my AC.

The part costs a little less than $200 bucks online, (like $170). It's easy to replace yourself.

Has the light come on before when it is cold? It is possible you have a bad solder joint within the sensor. My guess is the water is cooling the joint down and it contracts to make enough contact. It may be worth looking into resoldering yourself.

it is around 73 degrees, not too hot nor cold. This morning, the afs is back on, I am considering getting the sensor replace, I am now looking for a cheap deal online.

That did not answer my question. Never mind; good luck.
