AFS and disconnecting the battery...

I removed the battery to install new hid bulbs. When I used the lights for the first time I noticed the right light didn't turn right when I started the car with the lights on. I then turned the steering to the right and the right light didn't turn. I drove a few miles and then turned right into a parking lot. The light turned. I then turned left out of the parking lot and the drivers light turned left!? The lights have never turned left before. I thought they didn't because it blinded oncoming drivers. I then pulled into a parking lot and turned the wheel back and forth. Sure enough the lights followed the turns in both directions?!

So is the AFS calibrating itself because the battery was disconnected? Is there something I should be doing to calibrate it properly?

I searched before posting this and didn't find anything except how to program a newly installed AFS unit.

Maybe I never realized the left light turned because the bulb was dim? I doubt that. My co-worker did say it felt like the drivers side clip wasn't on properly. He had a hard time removing the bulb because of that. Maybe that is why it wasn't turning left before??? Is it suppose to turn left because it definitely is now???

Every time you disconnect the battery, you are essentially resetting all the computers in the car. So yes it did calibrate itself, but I'm pretty sure they do that every time you turn the vehicle on. And they should turn in both directions as you turn. Sounds like they're working like they should.

I just found it strange that it didn't turn left before I installed the new bulbs. Maybe because the driver's side bulb clip wasn't locked in place properly it wasn't turning? But if that was the case shouldn't have the AFS light come on?

By the way, I did RTFM and I searched here as well. I couldn't find anything about it calibrating itself after removing the battery.
