It's a Simpson Strap, from Home Depot. I'll take a picture for you.

does anyone have more information on this part? because find it kinda hard to justify an $80. difference just for the bracket, so that way we have more options in obtaining one

Touge at Visionary Racing did the original test fit, etc. on that particular part 2 1/2 years ago. I have now had the AEM CAI with brace on my car for almost two years with no issues. It is simply easier to get the entire assembly with proper instructions from VR, which is the only place that supplies it.

The instructions from VR are incorrect on one major point (the oem airbox can only be removed after removal of the bumper to expose a bolt) and highly unclear as to the attachment point for the Simpson strap. The first issue is more significant than the second, but when it turns out the "modification" is an .89 cent item from Home Depot, one might come to the conclusion that it's not worth the premium charged. Alternatively, one might think that's totally worth it, of course. Your call, dear reader.

what he's trying to say.. is the bracket alone really worth the extra $80. Sam is charging for it? Because on VS's website the exact part is selling for $80 less minus the bracket for the TL, when the bracket could turn out to be an $.89 part at Home depot. The reason i bring this up is so the other members looking to purchase the aem intake can save the extra $$$ by going to a different source.

For the AEM CAI, is it the V2? I am looking at the Acura Tl 04-08 Intakes but i just want to make sure before I buy one

Welcome to AZ!

...and holy thread revival.

And yes, it's the intake for the 2004-2008 TL. I had it and it worked nicely.

I'm impressed the photo still loads -- it's missing from my album here.

so does the front bumper REALLY have to come off to install an AEM intake???

another questions - when it comes time to clean the filter.. can you access it from under the car, or from up top w/out major part removal?? I had an AEM intake on a Honda prelude years ago and it was impossible to get to the filter w/out removing the wheel liner..which was a PITA..

if i did an intake on my RL.. i'd want the filter to be relatively easy to get to / clean /etc.

thanks.

No, it has to come off to remove the OEM system. The AEM drops right into the cavernous hole left behind, no problem. With the battery out of the way, I can reach the filter, too.
