This is a nice chart showing the history of Acura models. What's interesting is that it shows the RL changing models in 2008, which we've learned on Acurazine it wrong ->

There, I fixed it now it shows change in '09.

 

How do we know it will change in 09, especially if know the Acura worldwide introduction has been put off two years, if I recall. That would make sense if they are revamping the whole NSX concept

 

Also, this forum is called the "2nd gen RL" but that chart shows the 2nd gen as being the 1999 to 2004 model and the 1st gen being 1996 to 1999. Am I missing something or are we on the 3rd gen RL now?

 

My two cents is that the 1999 to 2004 is really the MMC for the 1st gen RL, but Honda had to create some new interest with the moribund RL sales, and intimated there were many more changes made than the normal MMC, thus the so called 2nd Gen RL.

What I really hope is that the 1996-2004 history of the 1G RL (3G Legend) does not apply to our current 2G RL (4G Legend) or we will be waiting 8 years for a new 3G RL(5G Legend)!

 

Chas2 is correct and the wiki is wrong. The USDM RL has had only two generations. The 1G RL was modified in 1999, then languished until the intro of the 2G RL/4G Legend in 2004 as a 2005 model.
