LOL, Even putting a Bra(Full Nose Mask) on it in the "Build your own" section doesn't help!

wtf, no 19'' accessory wheels? that's wack, or is it too early.

Wow. This trickle down family resemblance thing is blurring the lines between these models. On the Acura.com site, I'd click back and forth between the TSX to RL and boy are they looking similar. From what I understand, the TL is going this route too with the family grille, so i think the general public will have an even harder time differentiating the models.

Probably too early, if they have chosen to do it all. A run of 19" wheels for a limited sales car would probably be too expensive.

As of yesterday, there were numerous mistakes in the site, including references and pictures of the 290 hp 3.5 liter engine, and black lettering on an almost black background.

In fact, now I cannot even get to the acura.com site.

I saw an ad for the '09 RL run three times last night on The Science Channel. The ad is on the Acura website under the RL "Photo & Video Gallery." Not a bad commercial but unfortunately, it does show the front end. Perhpas it will make it to mainstream TV some day.

I have to say that the new site is pretty good. Very entertaining and it really shows off some of the features of the RL, from hooking up the iPod to driving SHAWD at different speeds to nice 360 views.

I noticed a change in the overhead console as well. The Homelink buttons were moved to the driver's side where the ONSTAR buttons used ot be (on 05 & 06 models, blank thereafter). But I could not make out the buttons on the passenger side of the overhead console.

I am test driving an 09 tomorrow. I will wear my UGLYBLOCKERS so I will not be stunned. I do not want to be eaten by the alien lizardpeople.

The rear is much better, subtle, but much better. But the front...well, it's butt ugly, it looks like it has big buck teeth, like a rabbit. I'll stick to my 2006 RL, thank you.

Question

When I bought my 06 RL, I was able to get a car that already had the front, rear and side underbody kits already installed because the original buyer cancelled the order. The dealer didn't charge for the kits and I was able to get the car for $43,500.

I notice on the Acure site that the 09 RL no longer offers the kits as an option. I wonder why? IMO, the kits really gave the RL an aggressive look.

The 09 RL has new front and rear facias. That would require new moldings for front and rear underbody kits.

Considering the low volume sales of the 05-08 RL I would expect the underbody kit sales were miniscule and not beneficial (profitable) to Acura. Being the 09 RL is only a 1.5 year run, AND it likely will not have volume sales, making yet another kit seems futile.

From a design perspective, perhaps the are aware that adding just one more design cue or intersecting line onto the car may cause spontaneous combustion or a warp in the time / space continuum. I think the designers got the inspriation for this design rendition from an Origami attempt gone seriously wrong.

Hopefully the kit, if it comes out, will be good. The kit on the new TSX makes the TSX look very good.

Yeah, there. I said it.

But for only being out for 1.5 years as mentioned, i really doubt they're going to do anything.

I was at my dealer yesterday with the intent to see the new RL. Oddly it was nowhere to be found. It either was not out of the staging / delivery lot yet or it has a new cloaking device to mask the ugly factor. The rep I intended o see was unexpectedly off for the day. he reps I chatted with did not hide their expectations the RL will be all but dealer lot ornaments.

That said, I looked over the TSX. I really like it. Althought the shield grille is not my favor (yet I like it on the MDX), it is well integrated and not offensive to me (I do prefer te honda Accord version of the grille). The TSX looks as large as the TL and even taller. When the green diesel TSX comes out in the fall, I am strongly considering it as a second car (if I can get the stick).

The RL A-Spec body kit wasn't released until several months after the 2005 RL was released, so it's reasonable to expect similar with the MMC RL.

I saw the same ad a bunch of times today on National Geographic. To be honest, the front doesn't look bad to me in the commercial. My favorite shot is the first appearance of the RL. It looks like a black RL with lights on and the shot is an elevated front shot. IMO it actually looked good and muscular! The whole commercial does a real good job of making the RL look good overall, at least much better than it does in the pictures.

According to the owner's manual they are for turning on and off the ceiling lights and to activate all the lights when the doors are opened

OFF
DOOR
ON

P. 200

The front and rear of the ceiling have ceiling lights
Push the ON button to turn on all the ceiling lights. Push the OFF button to turn them off.

After pushing the DOOR button, all the lights come on when you open any door, unlock the doors with the remote or built in key, or turn on the ignition switch from the ON(II) or the ACCESSORY (I) position to the LOCK (0) position. The indicator in the button comes on as a reminder.
