8 years - Finally, a complaint!

Simply put: these cars are too damn good.

The time has come for me to replace my aspec RL; still in excellent shape and can get some decent money out of it.

The downside is that I've tried to find a comparable replacement and have been unsuccessful. I've looked high and middle (2012 Audi S8 - felt cheap inside for a $70k car, 2011 Lexus GS 460 - unenthusing to drive and horrible headrests, 2010 BMW M5 - awesome but unreliable as sin, 3rd gen RL - just can't get over the exterior look, 2013? Infiniti Q50 - fun to drive but pretty generic styling) and just can't find anything on par in terms of driving enjoyment, comfort and value.

dude I agree with every option you said because ive done the same thing. Only cars for me worth my time is the FX50s, XJ Jag, 2011 Quattroporte, Hybrid Q50s and M37 or 56 just has to have the sport kit and be awd

Ive looked at everything because I love cars but nothing really out there has been a solid replacement for me They are all the same nothing stands out that makes me see it better than my RL

You just gonna throw a Maserati in there and think we won't notice?

In his defense, they're fairly cheap used.

This sounds like an entry into RL vs All.

Maybe I'll revive the test drive idea today while at dealer.

When compared with other Maseratis, yes, I agree.

This is why ive kept my 05 and will continue to do so as long as I can. Not much compare to it and I still love driving it. I figure I'll likely replace it with a 2016 Rlx SH in 2018 at the earliest. By then, those cars will be in the 20s.

I would agree... I am not sure what will happen when the time comes to replace the car... Best bet would be 2012 Acura RL as it will offer the most similar quality of ride, interior is 99% the same, and IF you can get over the exterior re-design... After longer search, it is possible you will no longer care about the redesign because the car is almost the same on the inside, and you get 6spd AT, 3.7L engine - slight upgrade over 2nd gen RL...
Only problem I see in the future is the parts, if you are looking to save money on after-market, or used ones. Dealers will still have them, so yeah...

I do not plan to be in the market for replacing my 06 RL, but if I absolutely had to two cars I would consider would be '12 RL OR '14 TL SH-AWD... not sure I would look for anything else...

Nah id lease, I optioned mine to 83 thousand before tax but I couldn't justify forking it out over the RL and im in NJ so daily driving it is a pain in the ass

I see myself buying a Hyrbid RLX or a Cayenne Hybrid just not sure when because I have no desire to sell my RL right now

I thought extensively about selling my RL. I was offered $15,000 on top of removing $4000 worth of parts. If there is a time to get my money back, it is now. In 2017 I plan to relocate and make a career change, and I could use the extra $20,000 in doing so. I can't pull the trigger and get rid of it. Just like stated above, I can not find anything comparable. It still gets enough attention as driving a Maserati. Since I'm a car enthusiast, the true uniqueness of my RL makes me so happy. And the process I went through to acquire these parts is a story in itself.

If it's still reliable and yet "it's time" to replace it, I'm guessing it's because you need some fresh excitement.

Instead of dropping $70k on a whole different car, why not drop $10k instead and put a blower in it? The RL's steering, handling and braking will easily handle the extra power. The guy who had a Comptech supercharger installed reported he didn't even have to reflash the engine electronics in any way and stayed 50-state legal for emissions. I've often thought that if I had $10k lying around the house, I'd do it. Why not you?

IIRC, I think he said it cost him 3000/3500.

I was also including the cost he reported paying for professional installation, which is highly recommended.
