2nd gen rl grille...possibilities

as we all know, the 2nd gen is a pain to mod. has anyone removed the grille and painted? I want to black out the grille, but am wary about painting. i can't find grilles anywhere and hate the mesh grille generic nonsense.

I'm also really curious how you did the painting of the chrome side pieces and grill. My grill is starting to show some nicks in it

Yes, You have to sand these parts. Chrome and inner part of the grill, and use paint then clear not plastic paint.

awsome thanks slawek65! did you remove the parts or paint them on the car? I'm guessing you just bought the oem paint so they matched perfect? I know i'm asking alot of questions but I've wanted to do this for awhile and the bodyshop I took it to before said they weren't sure it wouldn't peel off of them and weren't sure how to get them off to begin with without breaking them. Thanks again!

If the body shop don't know how to remove parts from the car I stay away from them. As for the paint I will get You more info what brand I used. This is some new primer before paint for chrome parts.I decided to do it after I see brand new Maxima get this (chrome parts painted) done and look very nice. And yes, You have to remove all parts from the car.

slawek65, thats exactly what I'm thinking of. Please let us know what paint you used, primers, etc. Did you remove all chrome molding or just mask off the body? I'd imagine it'd be a pain to remove all the chrome...
