I'm just wondering if anyone is familiar with this issue. My son has a 2005 RL with 72k and we recently pulled the front valve cover to replace the gasket and seals. The seals were a nightmare and had to be removed in pieces. The worst part was all the corrosion we found in the spark plug wells. The coils seemed fine and we replaced the plugs too since they were the factory plugs. I put some Loctite 518 where the coil meets the valve cover and so far no issues. I posted some pics.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
I appreciate the reply. We’re going to keep our eyes open for a deal on a pair of them. Any ideas what caused it? I’ve owned a lot of cars and I have never seen this. Thanks
it's gotta be the material used.
Perhaps Acura used a material that easily corrodes. or used a mixture or alloy that doesn't hold up over the test of time.
The great thing about the J-series engines, is that you'll be able to use any valve cover from a J35 engine.
so, if looking, I wouldnt necessarily choose the RL's valve covers.
