I read in the latest copy of "Style" Magazine that the "updated/revised" 2011 RL will finally have a 6 speed transmission with "low gear ratios" for improved acceleration and performance.

Other updates include a "Next Generation Grill" and "Dramatic New 18" wheels", power folding mirrors, parking sensors, along with a restyled rear fascia and new Light Orchid interior.

"Resonators at each wheel to minimize NVH".......I was a supplier to GM several years ago and never heard about this technology. A Honda development?

The 6 speed and the new Grill have me intriqued.........I just hope in addition to the performance boost that the fuel efficiency has also improved.

As far as the 6AT, it's probably the same as in the ZDX. I'm sure that will be good for improvement of mileage by a couple mpg.

 

I just hope Acura "outsourced" the new grill design and did not use their in-house designers!

 

How do we know that the latest grille ISNT the "next generation" grille?

You know there are issues with the grille, when KIA and Hyundai aren't copying it, like they do everything else.

That is old news from over two years ago. That is the RWD mule in a TSX body that was being tested before Honda decided to scrap RWD.

See above. The mule WAS a frankenchopped TSX, look at the longer hood. I think the MMC RL looks like it's in the same family as the TSX, but definitely not like a TSX.

As always....if you need the car now, just get it otherwise you'll always be waiting. With that said....Acura typically ends its press embargo on model changes on September 1st, so we will know definitively what the 2011 looks like at that point. That will help you decide. The cars are typically available in late October-early November.

I've seen these photos before. They say they're just using some of the TSX as a test mule and might suggest it won't look like a big brother of the TSX.

um...with all the negativity about the 09-10 RLs...I have people coming out of their cars (3 times last friday) to ask me what the hell I'm driving and to tell me how much they like it.

I mean...that must be worth something right?

The last person came out while having his car in the middle of the 4th lane on a 6 lane street, not on a traffic light.

The guy before that was half hanging out of his car in the middle of a 3 lane road.

RL gets noticed...everything else is just blah, common.

I am a little excited to see 6 speed and more power in the next gen RL...I can use some extra power.

The TSX is the European (Euro) Accord. Same car, rebadged.

 

 

It SHOULD look like a TSX....it IS a TSX body.

As Bob has already pointed out, it is a modified TSX body over the then planned RL RWD platform. It is a MULE.
