I am in need of a replacement driver's side mirror for my '05 RL and have been looking on eBay for replacements-a new mirror is over $550 and is NA in my color (celestial silver), hence the eBay search. I found a couple from later model years, namely 2007 and 2008, so I am trying to confirm that they are drop in replacements for my existing mirror without having to remove the current mirror (it has extreme looseness between the mirror housing/assembly and the base that mounts to the door). I know that the 2008 is NA in celestial silver, so I also could use some feedback as to how close the 2008 silver (platinum frost) is to celestial silver. I suppose worst case I could swap the housings so I had a color match, assuming of course thaht everything else is the same. Anyway, if anyone here has insights on this, I would appreciate feedback. Thanks!

 

Is the whole aerodynamic mirror housing loose or just the mirror inside the housing? And as far as I know they parts should be completely interchangeable. Check the part numbers for that part for different years.
