2007 Top 10 Worse Selling Models - No RL!
This list is composed of mainstream vehicles. The lowest 1525 units in 2007. The best on the list was 3637 units sold. So this is one list we are happy the RL did not make!
One that jumped out at me as the Audi A8 AWD V10. I like it, but apparently there is not much of a market for it....are you lisening Acura!?

Wow. The RL sold 5284 from Jan-Oct 2007, so yeah, it's not at the bottom of the heap for all cars. Thank goodness for small favors? Still, a far cry from the 20k/year Acura was hoping for.
Oh well, fewer on the road, longer exclusivity for me!

But first the AWD Phaeton go *poof*! Then the Audi S8 sales tank. A big engine AWD sedan just does not seem to have a fan club. And these two Bavarian models I think are closest to what the RL could be with a larger engine. Lots of aluminum, AWD, lots of tech....and no buyers.
I am beginning to understand Honda's resistence to surpassing the V6 for this car.

If you look at the list, most of it isn't surprising.
Isuzu? I didn't realize they were still selling cars in the US. I guess I should take a better look at the Autoweek buyer's guide...
Jag? Sorry but the only car in that lineup worthy of the Jaguar name, IMHO is the XJ. If Jag (actually Ford since Ford owned Jag) funneled money into revamping the XJ, it wouldn't be on that list... The X and S type were attempts to go down market...
The Mazda truck is just a copy of the Ford Ranger, which is already outdated and should have been retired years ago..
As for the Boxster, Porsche is a limited production vehicle company anyway. I'm sure the Cayman has been cannabalizing sales from the Boxter too.
As for the SC430, it's a design that Lexus has ignored for a number of years.... They should either update or drop it..
The XLR and S8 are just exclusive and pricey vehicles with pretty tough competition (SL, S-Class, 7 series, LS, to name a few) so I'm not surprised...
But yes, definitely happy the RL isn't on the list!

I own a Miata, and I have visited numerous Mazda dealers in my area. They never even have a Mazda truck on the lot. No wonder anyone one buys it. I bet a lot of people don't even know it still exist.

Heck I bet even fewer people know that Ford actually has a controlling stake (or had one) in Mazda.....

Cleveland and Lima build the Duratec engines used in Ford and Mazda variants.
Also these vehicles are based on the Mazda 6 platform, and also used in the Ford Fusion / Milan / Zephyr.

I'm sad to see the A8/S8 on the list, because they're beautiful cars. Especially the S8 with the Lambo pulled V10. You don't see them as often as a 7, S, or LS, but I guess that's why they made the list.

I'm pretty sure they manufacture in Japan. I suspect the RX-8 is made there. Just checked Edmunds. At least 1 model of the Mazda3 is made in Japan.

Wow, the A8/S8 is on the list? You mean having a V8 (or higher) engine in a luxury sedan doesn't equal tons of sales? Wow...I was under the impression from internet car forums/boards (where most members are way out of touch with the mass market reality) that a V8 in a luxury sedan= big sales and the reason the RL sells poorly is because of the engine. Couldn't simply be a prestige/brand thing and people will buy MB, BMW, Lexus regardless hence why the Audi A8 has poor sales. Nah...

I know this is OT, but check out this Fifth Gear review on the S5 vs the 335i. I love these British shows with their running commentary...

Right then, that video has me knackered. Time for a spot of tea in the lounge.
