2006 RL CMBS Error 30

I just started getting this error. It will not go away after turning off and on. It says CMBS and ACC are not working properly. System error 30. ANy advice, I could not find any references to this error message.

We have to rule out the most common solution first. How old is the battery?

Gotta agree. Check the battery. My CMBS went nuts one day and it was the battery. Been fine since I changed it.

Thx. The battery is about just over a year old. The message would come up constantly for 24 hours, but has now disappeared. ACC also works fine. It was weird.

Call your dealer and ask what CMBS error 30 means. It will help you when it comes back and, of course, we would all like to know.

Interesting...about 2 months ago I got the CMBS and ACC light on. After I got to my destination and my car was off for a long period of time, the light never came back on. Until about 3 weeks ago. The ACC and CMBS light came on and the same day they came on, the ACC light went off and hasn't returned. So I drove for about 3 weeks with no change. This morning at about 0330 on my way to work, I turned on the ACC and the standby light came on. I set the ACC to 70kms and drove with no problems. I pulled up behind a pickup and the car decelerated as it should. So I decided to try to engage the CMBS so I swung out from behind the truck and as I felt the car speed up a bit I pulled back behind the truck. The brakes engaged slowing down the car and the 'BRAKE' appeared in the dash. My Check CMBS is no longer on. I wonder if it will come on again.

Is the battery test as simple as using a volt meter and checking the reading I get on the terminals or is there some kind of sophisticated test that needs to happen?

There is no definitive test for the battery. Your best bet is a test under load (cranking) but I don't know what a good limit for the test result is. As the starter cranks, the voltage is going to dip. If the electronics try to startup before the voltage ramps back up to the alternator voltage, they will set errors that won't be cleared until a reset.

Does your car crank slowly? With your headlights on, do they flicker or turn off during cranking? Does your telescoping function ever act out? When I put a new battery in, my car cranked and started 2x as fast. If you are used to slow, it will be hard to tell, but that was the biggest difference between an old battery and a new one for me.

I never noticed it crank slow when I start it. I've only been driving it for a year now. I bought it as a lease return, one owner with 70KMS on it. I don't think the battery has been changed since new. I'll run it for a week or so and maybe just buy a new one anyways. Like you mentioned, it'll probably start a lot faster after I change the battery.

A bit off topic but because we're on the topic of the technology package/ sensors. If I plasti dip my grill, including the sensor, would it still work?

Considering ice/snow buildup on the shield can cause a CMBS/ACC error, I would say plastidipping it would be ill-advised.

I believe the sensor is behind the grill/shield and I don't believe it will cause an error as I have driven without the grill and shield in order to help prove the shield is a $30 piece of plastic. I had no errors .

The radar unit IS behind the shield emblem. I'm sure it will still work without the shield in place. That wasn't the question though. The question was involving obstructing the radar

He asked about the grille and sensor. I thought he was talking about thre radar unit. Plastidiping the grill will have no effect. What sensor is he reffering to?!

That's the shield I'm referring to. Its up for debate that that doe's anything except protect the radar unit. I personally don't think it will have an impact if you spray it. I've driven without mine causing no problems.
