2006: Difficulty installing fog bulbs

Reading all of the threads that I could find, I decided to grab a set of the Hoen fog bulbs that give a decent match to our headlights.

The instructions for pulling the splash guard away worked great, and the posts are correct, the passenger side is easy while the driver gets a bit tight.

Here's where I get into issues, it seems that no matter what I try, I can't get the bulbs to be fully seated with the connector in place: if I put the bulb in and twist it into the locked position, I can no longer attach the connector as the two metal locking tabs in the housing stop the connector from fully snapping into place. If I put the connector on first, the same 2 little metal locking tabs stop the light from twisting to fully locked.

I grabbed a Silverstar H11 just to see if it was the Hoen's, but that exhibited the same issue. Anybody encounter this issue, and if so, how'd you fix it?

I should have taken pictures, I know, but I was frustrated and it was about to rain. When I disassemble it again, I'll be sure to grab a few pics.

Thanks,
Mojo

I had no issues besides the PITA tight space on the driver's side. I remember having to push the clips apart to get the bulb and connector past them.

Sorry, it has been so long, I don't really remember the details other than the driver's side was quite difficult. I do remember what I always do, which is to scout out the area with flashlight, then lie on the ground in the best manipulation position possible, which usually precludes also seeing the area, closing my eyes and being very patient doing it...I did have a helper initially sight the bulb from the front of the car to tell me I at least was getting the capsule close to the hole in the housing...and that the bulb was perpendicular and not cocked...I think I only engaged one side the first time....but that was more for his benefit, doing something to help...because it was definitely a one man job lying on the ground.

you'll need nible small hands to do this.... but, I know one side is easier to do than the other.... however, I put in LED bulbs not eh HID bulbs.... I'm sure HID bulbs require more space due to ballast.....
