2005 Rl slight vibration on gas?

Hello All,

So today i changed the oil, and air filter and cleaned the throttle body.

But i noticed this when i picked up the car, that the gas pedal vibrates slightly when stepping on the gas. Like its trying to push the trainny.

The engine works great in neutral, so im assuming its the transmission or torque converter.

Does anyone have any suggestions to tell the service person at the dealership?

Thanks

The way I do it, unless I know what the problem is I let them see/feel whatever is wrong and go from there.

Nobody likes to be told what to do or check anyway...as long as they're not charging you for having it looked at.

its not during any RPM, its when the car is in drive or reverse, more noticeable at low speeds.

take it to the dealer to diagnose, freak out when they give you a quote and fix it somewhere else :-)

Acura of Manhattan has some coupons on their website if you do decide you want the dealer to take care of it.

So took it into the dealer today:

They said it was the front mounts that were bent and had to be replaced. which is under warranty.

They also said my brakes need to be replaced and it will cost 800 dollars for both front and rear. I wonder if i can get the brakes anywhere and do it myself. I am afterall a DIY kinda guy. ANyone know where to get good brakes?

the service manual procedure for front brakes looks like it is based off a couple of special tools, such as an on car resurfacer. However if you just remove the entire caliper, it should be much like any other brake job. Use a large c-clamp to compress the piston back in. The rotor is held on with 2 phillips head screws (#3) that can be a pain. I needed a manual impact to break them free on my last acura.

The rear brakes look like typical acura brakes, whereas the parking brake activates "shoes" inside a very small drum on the inside of the rotor. At most you need to just clean them up and regrease a few points in addition to replacing rear pads and resurfacing rear rotor.

Not a difficult job at all. Be sure to follow pad manufacturer's break in procedure, if there is one.

Any idea how the mounts got bent?

I hate to be ignorant but what are the front mounts?

What needs to be replaced on the brakes, just the pads, or something else? I need to know what to look forward to.

Thanks

Hey Chas2, front mounts are what keeps the engine up in the car. if the mounts start to wear, you could feel a vibration coming from the car.

So got the car back from the dealership, they replaced the Mounts, but i still feel a slight vibration at low RPMS in a higher gear. How smooth is everyone's pedal?

The mounts did reduce the vibration somewhat, but its still there. What should I do?

Our RL has drive by-wire. Just to confirm the vibration is only occurring when there is some load on the engine?

My accelerator pedal is smooth as butter.

I noticed that the vibration is usually when the car is in low RPMs, I can feel a vibration from the steering wheel to the pedal.

Recenty I noticed that my gas pedal vibrates. It's almost to the point of being annoying. My sister has an '06 and I've been meaning to drive her RL and compare to mine. I don't understand... the RL is Fly by wire or whatever you call it so I would assume that there is no contact with the engine/tranny.
