2005 RL Navigation Unit Issues

Recently, my navigation system has begun freaking out. When it decides to actually boot up, it will eventually freeze and reset after 2-3 minutes and repeat over and over. It is not an issue with the disk, even with it removed it still resets. I have tried removing and replacing all navigation/accessory fuses and those appeared to alleviate the issue for a day or so. I have tried removing the battery and touching the wires for 15 minutes to reset all the electronics. I noticed that one of the relays in the trunk has holes in it like someone grasped it too hard with needlenose pliers however it appears to have something to do with the headlights, not the navigation. Has anyone had a similar issue to this? Do you know of any other kind of reset or way to fix this? I really don't want to spend $600+ for a new navigation unit.

Thanks!

Doubt it's what you're suggesting. It's the unit. They are known to go out. New unit is $3500. Alpine repair is around $500. My repaired unit went dead again after 18 months. Had to go with new.

Find a used unit -- there are enough 05-08 RLs out there that you will be able to find one. Check eBay to start.
