1,500 dollars is this...

1,500 dollars is this...

too high for timing belt,waterpump,spark plugs,fluids... for my 05 rl has reached 100000. this is my dealers price tax not included. is this too high?

Its pretty high. Especially if the car is out of warranty, and there is no need to go to dealer to document anything. I am guessing that you should be able to find an independent honda/acura mechanic who will do all that for about half the cost.

The dlr wanted 1200 for my CL-s TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP , BUT I GOT IT DONE for $700 at a locqal shop. Just make sure shop is reputable cuz bye bye timming belt, bye bye engine!@

Warranty has nothing to do with it. The timing belt is a maintenance item.

re Warranty, I think he meant there is no reason to have the Dealer do the non-warranty maintenance items. If still under warranty, have Dealer do maintenance for good documentation. Out of warranty, no need.

thats exactly what I meant. I am dreading the day I have to bring a folder full of walmart/napa/online acura receipts into the dealer to have them perform work under warranty.

good spark plugs are no more than $10/each and will last 100k miles. Water pump and timing belt should be around $400, maybe a little higher. Many shops will let you buy the parts yourself, particularly for things like the plugs, and they will just charge you labor.
