09 RL - Owners unite

Who else has an 09 RL?

I know I'm not the only one looking at "no items found" when looking for something new to add.

Speak up.

Got quoted for 09tech for 41799 including 2200 trade in from rav4, Color combo is black/black. Including for the quoted price is the Acura Luxe Care(is this worth it?). Is this a good deal provided that my RAV4 tradein was $3400 last October. I just put additional 900 mileson it since then.

is that $41,799 after they take your car?

If so, that's a bit pricey.

Acura Luxury Care is included with every new vehicle, no surprise there.

Ask them for the 100k/8 years extended warranty for the same price and you should be good.

Good luck. We need more 09 owners here.

Well, the price is a bit on the high side if you ask me. Comparatively speaking, I paid 40k for my CMBS and it had 3500mi on it.

A week later I saw another used CMBS with 5k go for less than 43k on ebay.

Your call.

Get some competition. See another dealer. Work with them via email at the very least.

I just saw an '09 tech package RL (non-CMBS) go for $34,900 at a dealer auction. I think it had 9K miles. I could not believe it, hardly anyone was bidding on it. It's simply too ugly and is depreciating so fast that it is not worth getting it right now. '05-'08's were selling like crazy there. More dealers wanted those. Still can't find one for me tho

Please confine your ugly comments to the photo section, thanks.

35k at a dealer auction is 40k for the customer. Sounds reasonable.

037, a little off topic, but is it true that the 09 has a 36 foot turning radius vs the older 40 foot radius

I never measured it, but it turns much narrower than 06 TL.

Thanks, that means they did. The 2006 TL has a 39.7 ft turning radius, exactly the same as the 2005-08 RLs. So this means the 09 has a turning radius almost comparable to the old 2G Legend with its longitudinal drivetrain layout!

My dealer had the 09 RL on the lot with special stickers for 41K, with no miles.
I guess fangs are not in vogue this year. Miss my O6 Rl but loving the new Maxima. Hope acura hires someone soon that knows something about design.

Though the 2009 has been growing on me. It is very aggressive-looking.

Acura needs a Bob Lutz. Maybe even THE Bob Lutz. STAT. The GM designs on his watch are pretty memorable. However, we get mullet-dude, whatever his name is.

Yep, the rear is great looking. The front is just about as bad as a pink Pinto with yellow flames and side pipes with a purple interior on 4x4 wheels with long chrome curb markers. But that rear...oh my. Shake that.....................

compare the front to other cars in its class such as Infiniti M and you will see the front looks better than theirs.

Sorry, I would take the front end from the others any day.
But look at this way, make your RL fast enough and everyone will only be able to see the rear end.

my RL is already fast enough. And since nobody is buying them, there is a really high chance that I probably own the only red CMBS 09 in the US.

I almost like the rear maybe a little more than the previous.

The face is the issue, although it's growing on me. Does anyone have pictures of a painted grille? My dealer shoed me a TL with the painted grille, and it looks soooooo much better.

I was considering making the grill a darker shade of gray, maybe.

Just tack on some bat/vampire teeth, backlight it with some LED's and that new grille is the bomb! Or, maybe some red, Cylon Warrior LED's inset to the middle (old Cylons, not the hot chicks).

You know, if the outside was painted, I think that grill would really change my opinion on the front of the 09 model.

if the grille were painted around the edges to enhance the mesh. Mesh CAN be tastefully done.....witness the CTS-V. I thought the mesh might look gaudy in person, but when taken with the front design of the car, it looks badass. It has no border around the edges of the mesh.

037,

How do you like your 09? I'm looking to trade my 06 for an 09. I guess the black wood only comes with CMBS, huh?

And I take it that anything around $40k is an okay deal?

Good luck getting a tech for 40k. The quotes I hear are about 43-44 now.

I used to drive an 06 TL w/Navi so that's the only thing I can directly compare to.

I don't know about black wood, mine comes with red wood.

I got the CMBS and it seems to be working great along with radar cruise control.

Cooled seats definitely came in handy once and as the summer approaches will come in handy again.

I got my CMBS for 40k w/ 3500 miles on it, so you can use that as a starting point.

You definitely don't want to pay retail for it as the price drops quick after it leaves the dealer lot.

Overall, I think it's a great long term car to have.

The only things that I had to swap out right away were the Touring Tires and the lame wiper inserts.

Brake pedal felt a bit crappy so I changed the brake lines to stainless steel one's. If you're ok with your 06, I assume you'd be fine with 09 too. Coming from a TL I couldn't stand them.

Please let me know if this helps and I'll definitely zero in on any specific issues or concerns you may have.
