08 RL Heat works only on Hi

First time I tested heater today since buying 08 RL few months ago. I do not feel hot air coming out of vent until I increase heater to maximum- Hi.

For any reduction in temperature, I do not feel proportionate hot air.

What could be the issue?

Its your heat resistor that's gone. Located behind the glove box area with one connector and held in with two screws on your heater box ducting

I misread this for a minute to mean "Heat works only on Hawaii." I thought to myself, "Who needs heat there?"

Not clear. Is this a replaceable part or electrical repair issue?

When I searched auto part store for "resistor" - all I get is blower motor resistor which is not we are looking for as motor speed is fine

That's the same part that am talking about which controls the blower motor fan speed, If it only works on the highest speed only then there is a break in the blower motor resistor that would reduced the current flow which would control the blower motor fan speed, and yes it is an changeable part not an electrical issue pertained to wiring.

I agree with Dr. KB. "resistor" is short for 'variable resistor'. It controls the speed. Your description is, '[only works on hi]' That means on or off. That means you lost the 'variable' part of the resistor.
What about cooling/AC fan? Does that work? 1-5 settings?
My recent breakdown was heat not working, even on hi. But I live in Arizona. The temp was 110. So, top of climate control scale was 86 then>>hi. I thought mine wasn't turning on because car was already 100! ha,ha!!
It is most likely the fan, for me. It don't work for cool, for heat, or for love. But, maybe for money?
Good luck!
