07 rl consuming oil

My rl2007, has 70k miles and is consuming about a quart of oil per every 1000 miles. Acura tech line has told the dealer that this is within the normal range. They say it can consume, or use/ burn up to 1 quart per every 1000 miles. I know this is weird but what do you all think about this? I took it in at 60k and have been having it serviced under the powertrain warranty. Any thoughts on this. The service manager says he worked at BMW and they too had this as a standard within reason usage, what do you think? So if I drive 5k miles and check my dipstick it is dry though there is still oil in the engine, just not 5qts. Usually it becomes dark or viscous but doesn't go away. I have no visible leaks or dripping, etc.

Tell em it burns one quart every 900 miles. What are they going to do, keep the car for 900 miles to verify it?

I have the exact color combination and year that you own. I have 156,000 miles and burn no oil. I have owned many Acura's which many have gone over the 100,000 mile mark and none have burned oil. I am sure there is something going on that is causing this oil consumption.

BMW standards have nothing to do with Acura and if you're burning a quart of oil every 1,000 miles, there's something wrong.

Time for a new mechanic or at least a second opinion.

i had a family member purchase the lexus ls460 when it came it. it said in the owners manual that it was acceptable to use oil at the rate of 1qt per 900 miles, or something crazy like that. to me, that is not acceptable.

If the first owner started to use synthetic prior to 20k mi, it is possible the seals were not conditioned as well as they would have been with conventional. I don't remember the exact details, but I read about how using synthetic out of the gate can cause oil burning.

Have them check your valve gasket covers. It's possible that they are leaking enough to burn the oil without enough smell or residue to detect a leak without looking at these covers.
