Exclamation 07 RL Alarm going off on its own help!

So, I've had the amazing car for about a month maybe. 2007 RL w/ tech package. I drive it just to drive it. It's had ALL the scheduled maintenance done, replaced engine mounts, drive belts, timing belt water pump and looks BRAND NEW inside and out COMPLETELY. OK, so right after I bought it the alternator starts whining, luckily the non-acura dealership fixed it for free. It's been a 2-3 weeks and we've had record rain here in Dallas for the last week and still another week of storms at least coming.

Good part: I hear someone laying on the horn this morning at 8 for a good 30 seconds plus. I go outside ready to give someone some and I don't see anyone. Can't tell who's car it is. It happens again. I run out and it stops. Maybe its a car a ways down the lot. It happens again and I go out and realize it just might be MY CAR. GASP. I lock, unlock w/ FOB- all fine. I decided (after looking a bit on here) to take it for a spin, run the heater and maybe dry out whatever is having an issue. Park it. Getting out of the car when I drove it, the door sensor didn't lock the car- had to use the FOB. 20 mins- HORN. I frantically check for my FOB and now I see the lights flashing and hit EVERY button on the FOB and NOTHING stops it. It just stops on its own after 30 seconds. WTF IS GOING ON? Door sensor problem? Hood latch? Just wait till it dries out A WEEK FROM NOW? Any way to disable the Alarm for this until I can get it looked at? I don't care if someone breaks in it, I don't keep anything in there. I've had stuff stolen before from a TL in middle of the day in front of a restaurant with people everywhere- THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ALARMS. Its going to happen. As long as it disengages the ignition so the car doesn't get stolen, I'm cool with disabling the thing. This is my further of fifth Acura and I've NEVER had so many problems.

Amazing car otherwise.

Any help would be MOST appreciated!! I and my neighbors need to sleep!

I don't have an RL but do have a 3G TL-S and have owned an 07 MDX. The Acuras typically have 8 trigger points for the alarm as follows:

1 each on the four doors
1 for the engine hood
1 for the trunk
1 for the radio
1 for the ignition

Assuming you have a faulty sensor and will need to be diagnosed and replaced. Until then don't lock the car. The alarm shouldn't go off if it's not armed and it doesn't arm if it's not locked.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I need to amend the original post. I've left it unlocked. The car isn't far from my door and FOB is maybe 5 yards away. Even unlocked, the horn has gone off a couple times now. It only lasts for 5-10 seconds and the lights aren't flashing. This is how I was originally thrown off, the lights aren't flashing- just continuous horn. As I mentioned, I had the alternator replaced 3 days after purchasing a few weeks ago. I wonder if the battery could just be having problems? I thought I read somewhere that the low battery might cause this.

Yes - that is a definite possibility. Dead or dying batteries have been known to manifest themselves is all sorts of odd symptoms.

Well, thank you, NBP for your reply. I feel like an IDIOT. The symptoms so match everything. I went out after driving it down the highway for 10 miles and back to dry out the door handle. I walked right up towards my car and up to it while the horn was going off to find out. ITS NOT MY CAR! There is a car parked behind mine and from my angle, even up close and from my front door appeared to be coming from my car. ARRGGG!!! RELIEF!! I need to connect with other RL owners especically in the Dallas area. There aren't very many RLs now and we're a small community. This car is one of the most amazing vehicles I've ever driven. I'm not happen about black, but its so nice, then tint is so dark, with the screens on the back windows it cools off very quickly. I may have to post in the upgrade forums on front seat covers. Now all is fine, time to mod! :-)

LOL - Well glad it's not your car!!

Check out the regional forum here on Azine. The RL community isn't as active as the TL and some of the others but I know there are quite a few TX members on here. And I agree the RL is a really nice vehicle.

I typically can read and comprehend math faster some people. In the same vein, some people can read and comprehend writing faster than me. Since I require comprehension, I find my self being picky about what I spend my time reading.

Concision is imperative.

Thanks, Spy lol .. Well part of what was throwing me off is the fact that the (this is ligit) door handle sensor isn't unlocking the door automatically today. The locking sensor is. Does this thing just need to dry out a couple days? Maybe I should get it some pretty floaties so it doesn't drown next time it rains. :-)

I didn't realize I was responding to you in the other thread...

How close was the fob to the car? Close enough for it to unlock with the touch sensors? Water trips the sensors if the fob is close enough, and the repeated locking/unlocking will burn up the door handle. It happens to peole washing their cars with the fob in their pocket. Right, Heavy?

I have the same problem. Car alarm goes on randomly when unlocking doors from the remote. It doesen't stop, you can drive, lock&unlock, remove the battery, alarm still works (has its own batt. I guess).

Even dealership doesen't know what's the problem. They updated/reflashed cars' software and told me if it continues, siren horn needs to be replaced. So far (2 months) alarm hasen't gone off and I'm still with 8 years old OEM horn.

It happend to me about 3 years ago also, and then dealsership also updated/reflashed the software.

Removing the battery will render the lights and horn useless. You're doing it wrong.

My guess is that you have a faulty keyless access module or door handle. We have seen instances where the car's alarm will not turn off even when driving to the dealer due to shorted door handles.
