Hello everybody

I just began hearing a "whistling" sound from my driver's side rear door on my 2005 RL (it sounds almost like the door is open). Could it be that the rubber door seal needs to be replaced. If so, does anyone have any idea what's involved with that?

Have you inspected the door frame and door seal? If there are no obvious anomalies, have someone else drive while you sit in the back seat and determine the exact point of air flow.

Once you find the culprit, we may be able to help, but there is little we can do to troubleshoot remotely.

 

Since you have an 05 definitely check for cracks or tears on the door or body weatherstrip. If no grease has been used there could be a chance (depending on where you live) that the weatherstrip is brittle.

As far as changing out the weatherstrip. It's fairly easy, especially the body weatherstrip. Let me know if you need help if that is the culprit as I've changed it out on my RL before due to a tear.
