no, I didn't buy it. My parents did.

I have been doing a ton of research for my own car purchase - and have been going round and round with various options. The RL has been high on my list of cars I would consider buying. (I'm also thinking of keeping my existing daily driver, fixing it up, and buying a boxster for fun...)

Anyway, mom and dad (they are in their 60s) bought a 2007 RL. It's that dark metallic gray color, with light gray leather. Very nice color combo. It has the aspec wheels in chrome with Michelin Pilot Sports on it. Tires look to be almost new. the car was supposedly a lease repo..found it at carmax. $34999. it has about 10k on it. it still smells new.

I got a chance to drive it last night. wow. very nice. Compared to the 05 I recently drove (which had 17s) this car was VERY tight, and handled exceptionally well. I wondered if the former owner could have put aspec suspension on it - it handled so well but I don't think they did. it sitll had some body rollw hen you really turned hard - and the shocks/springs look stock from the wheel wells and there are no sighs anythign was installed aftermarket - bolts screws under hood look untouched....

The 18" wheels look really good. in general i don't like chrome - but the RL has a fair amount of chrome highlights, plus the large grill - that the wheels tie in nicely. the stock 17s are so ugly, and when you have just seen that, then see the 18" Aspec wheels - it just looks sooooooooooooo much better. the car looks 10X better.

I have a 2007 MDX w/nav as my family car - and compared to our MDX the RL seems a LOT quieter. I mean a LOT. OUr car, being an SUV, has larger tires, we have the roof rack too which makes some noise when you drive...but in general, the RL seemed virtually silent inside.

the stereo was amazing. very nice sounding. i don't know if our MDX has the noice cancellation technology..i wonder if it does NOT... we only added nav, not the next few options..so i honestly don't know if my car has that feature, but the stereo sounded crisper and cleaner in their car.

i think the combo of 18" wheels and nice tires makes their car seem much more planted and firm than the last 2005 that I test drove.

I can imagine that if you stuck the full blown aspec setup, or some lowering springs, onto this car, it would take away the final little bit of wiggle/body roll/slop (which is not much) and make it VERY tight and corner flatter.

there is a fully loaded black on black on w aspec body kit...but it's 500 miles away. 35888 is the price. 2007 only 13k miles.

 

I think I saw that 07 RL on Carmax a week or so ago...in CA... looked good. good buy.
