06 RL stopped running
Good afternoon,
1st post. A little background. I bought my 06 RL 6 years ago with 90k miles. This is my 2nd Acura the first being a 2.7 Legend 5 speed coupe 20 years ago. The RLnow has 160k. Did timing belt, tensioner and water pump at 109k. I have ran nothing but Mobile synthetic and Shell high test. It does not tick, miss or burn any oil.
it sat for about a month while I was driving the Old Jeep, but started right up as the battery is 5 months old. It went a quarter mile and just quit in drive going about 3 mph. I have no power, will not even unlock the doors. Will not go into park. It acts like no battery is in the car.
I’m going to check the main fuses under the hood, but thought I’d try a post to see if this has happen to anyone else. I don’t like electrical gremlins.
thanks for any advice

sure, twice.
Different cars, alternator goes bad and cant charge battery which empties while driving, especially at low speed-low rpm, and wouldn't start anymore. Both times happened to me on the road and needed towing, you were lucky to be so close.
let us know what you find.

Thanks for the help. Will check all tomorrow if the rain lets up. I’m in middle Tennessee. It basically rains in the winter and spring the car had been sitting. I figured something got corroded.
it has so much electrical on it I was hoping someone would give me a lead.

Yea but other stuff would still light up. like the car's inside lights etc.

It does seem like a bat cable.
In-depth leads are of no use when the basic stuff aren't checked yet. Especially that this car often breaks due to the basic stuff.
- Battery. If the car sat a while with no driving, some electronics sometimes short, and keep draining anyway.
- Battery cables. The ground one on many needed changing. The red one needed clearing corrosion.
- Alternator. @160k miles, if its still the original, it may be due, especially on this car's load and shorts drainage etc.
You need a battery tester, and check it along with alternator. Check cables. It'd be very odd if it's anything else.

Dead battery
I have had a couple BMWs and am surprised the car Acura even started. It started after a month not driving with a 4 month old battery went 500 yards and quit everything. It would not even go in park. The roll back had to drag it to toe it.
Id rather it not start at all than run for 2 minutes and make me walk home..
The batt turn 1 volt at Orielly’s. Don’t know how it ever even started the car
thanks for the responses
Going to spend a week detailing it. I’ll post pics
thanks all

sorry to hear that.
A new battery should have lasted longer even if alternator completely dead.
if a blown fuse prevents a new battery from powering the engine, you would not have even started it.
you may be dealing with at least two different points of failure in your case, and the empty battery was just a symptom.
if you have a multimeter, use it to check continuity and resistance of the ground wires and main battery connections, as movement of corroded cables while running the car could account for apparent randomness, a blown fuse wouldnt.
as the alternator should have generated enough voltage to KEEP ENGINE RUNNING, that also remains suspect.

2006 Acura RL has no power
My 2006 Acura RL has a brand new battery in it and won’t start! When I turn the ignition key nothing happens, no dash lights no nothing. I pulled all of my fusses and checked and replaced the ones that needed to be replaced. I cleaned the battery termal selves and the ground and still absolutely nothing! I am going to check the relays next but any recommendations or Ideas would be much appreciated.
