Excuse if there is an existing thread - I searched with no luck. Black leather seats on my 05 RL are cracked and split. While I've found good looking and economical covers for driver and pass seat base - nothing exciting for seat backs.

I do understand the OEM leather covers can be replaced. Seen sets on eBay for $300+ . Has anyone attempted changing these out? I've got a set of black 05 OEM seat backs I can pull from LKQ for $5 each. I began by removing the seat back pocket cover. From there it is a series of pressure clips holding cover in place. Have not gone any further as they closed before I could finish removal.

Any insight appreciated. I'll post picks when I return and complete removal. Cheers.

 

It's simple, First remove the cushion along with the leather cover, then gently nibble on the old clamps with pliers so as not to tear the old cushion, and instead of them you put on good new zipties, I do this all the time and there are no problems.
