Question MICU replacement questions

Hello,

Been tracking down a battery drain issue in my 2005 Acura RL and I have isolated it to Fuse 7 on the Drivers side fuse box.

Best as I can tell (page 22-195 in service manual) that goes to:
- Fog Light Relay
- Combination Switch Control Unit
- MICU

Of the three the MICU seems like the most likely candidate due to complexity more than anything else.

Questions:
1) First of all, is the MICU the box that is part of the driver's side fuse box?
2) I've read about replacing one on the TL and it seemed like a PIA, but straightforward. Same on RL? Do i need to take it to a dealer for programming?

Was going to buy a used one on ebay. Don't see any for sale on the various sites I searched. From what I understand that is what controls the locks and such and is on all the time,

The Combination Switch Control Unit has CAN, so it is somewhat intelligent but not anywhere as complex.

Thanks!

Do you have keyless entry on your RL ? There is a known issue with the door handles shorting, they can get warm and slowly drain the battery. It makes sense that this draw would be coming from the MICU.

I do have keyless entry and it appears to be working fine. I bought an MICU box off ebay, will install it sometime when my daughter comes home in the next couple of months. In the meantime she just disconnects the fuse in the fuse box when she won't be driving the car for a while. If that does not fix it, then we will have to dig further.

Thanks for your response and sorry for the late reply.

Well, my daughter came back for the weekend and decided to attempt the MICU swap.

After about 6 hours gave up on it. Could not figure out how to remove the connectors on the rear of the unit. The problem is that something went wrong and the MICU is no longer functioning

The current consumption dropped down to 120mA, but the car won't start...

Oh well, time to take it in and see if they can fix it.
