‘06 RL celestial silver paint

My bodyshop just replaced the bumper after I was rear-ended by an uninsured motorist without a driver’s license, no less. The paint color of my car is called celestial silver. For some reason they painted the bumper meteor silver. I don’t know if this is the way it supposed to be but it’s not what I wanted. To me, the bumper looked to be the same color as the body of the car. Does anyone know, if the bumper should be painted the same celestial silver?
Thank you so much!!

Sorry to hear about your accident, and hope no one was hurt.

Paint can fade over time, so likely they painted your bumper something to match the existing paint on the rest of the car.

Be sure to ask your insurance company about a diminished value claim (likely is a separate claim).

Thank you very much! I’ve had some neck and back pain but not too bad.
I will ask about the diminished value claim. I didn’t know about it and I appreciate you bringing it up. 😊

What's the paint code for your car? There's a sticker on a B-pillar, IIRC.

Each colour should be available in different shades, to cover fading.

I’ll have to look in the morning (I’m in California).
I did speak with the service manager yesterday and he said that the meteor silver is the new name for the celestial silver. Through the years, I guess they changed the name. But I will still look on the door panel. I did not know about the different shades! 🤓👍🏻
Thank you, Nick, for the information! I love learning about all of this!

I could not file a diminished value claim because the driver at fault was uninsured. The ins co. can’t file a First Party diminished value claim, I was told. It was worth asking, thanks again! 😊

Do you have uninsured motorist insurance? If not, maybe you can't file it, but looks like you should be able to file it unless the accident was your fault.

Just Google..."diminished value claim california uninsured motorist coverage" and see what pops up...bet you can file a claim.

Yes, I Do have uninsured motorists. That’s what is paying for the body damage and medical, bc the driver at fault had no ins. Or drivers license, for that matter. 🙃
mill look at the link you sent when I get home.
I appreciate you sending it!!

Does the bumper look the same colour as the rest of the car ? It doesn't matter what they used, as long as you can't see a visibly different shade. As per other post, it's their job to make it match the rest of the car.

Hi! Yes, I’ve looked more closely at it in different lights / times of day. And I am relieved that it does look the same.
