Totally dumb oil question

RDX peeps,
As the subject line mentions I rather spit it out and be safe than sorry. I did my oil change and dumped 4.5 qts into the engine. I checked the oil level on the dipstick hardly any oil, I just said what the heck and started her up for a minute thinking that if theres any issue my oil light would come up.
I switched off the engine and checked the dipstick, the level is fine..

Question :... Cold engine no oil on disptick? is this the normal behavior of RDX? The civic shows the correct level when cold

Thanks
- D

Sometimes when I do an oil change (on any car), the oil is so clean, you cannot see it on the dipstick.

if you put in the rated capacity for oil and filter you should be fine.

Just a heads up, from the tip of the dip stick to the max line, all it takes is about half a quart oil in Acura. Hopefully you resolved the issue by now, since it has been over a month you posted the question. Over the weekend, I did the oil change in my car, and with about 4 qrts, my TL dip stick barely had any oil on the tip. I added a little more oil, 4.5 qrts, and the dip stick was covered till the max line. Also, make sure your car is on level ground before you top off the oil.

Hope this helps.
