Temp on dash off sometimes by 20 degrees

I have a few question: Does the computer get the air temp by the sensor that shows it on the dash? Does anybody else notice that it take a while for the sensor to read changes? Sometimes when left outside with temps in the teens when I start the car it reads in the forty's and takes 30 minutes to read somewhat close to the temperature outside. Are other owners experiencing this?

Yup, me too! Thought it might be my ongoing battles with door looks gremlins or something related. Have a 2014 accord accord v6 and its temperature reading is always bang on! Go figure. I would imagine it's a typical front mount sensor built into inside of front bumper like most others. Trying to adjust it with settings is useless.

Don't know if it can be fixed or not, will ask next time car is in for service.

Hopefully others will chime in here. A friend has a 2013rdx and says his does the same thing! Guess it's just the nature of the beast?

Cheers

Ours is that way, too. It's probably the location of the sensor. If we park it so the sun is shining on the front the temp will sometimes read much higher than ambient. Once we get moving it seems to be better. Also, I think the sensor is read only every so often. I don't think that's the temp sensor that's used by the engine control computer.

I've complained to the dealer about this for over two years. They say its normal. My old 07 RDX did not have this problem, so I don't believe them. They say the temperature where the sensor is may be higher when the car is sitting in the sun, and I understand this, but it shouldn't take it 10 minutes to recalibrate. Whatever, it's poor engineering. I gave up on it.

That's bad, considering acura is not cheap brand, my wife's 2012 KIA forte is within a few degrees of the outside Temp.
