rear seat noise

My 13 RDX Tech occasionally has a noise coming from the back seat behind the driver. It appears to be the latch area tho having it happen while at the dealer has hard to duplicate.
Anyone else have this problem? Dealer solution?

There is a TSB for the gen-ONE RDX, for this problem, assuming its the same as your car. The *solution* is to *adjust* the latch on the seat back (upright). But it will just loosen up again after a time, and is not that easy to do. If you search on this forum, there is a link for TSBs and NewsLinks for RDX, in the gen-ONE area.

To verify the problem, I used the following procedure. Turned off all noise makers, radio, HVAC, etc. Drove at around 20-30mph around my condo complex, which has some of those speed bumps. Every time I hit one, even very slowly, the latch would rattle.

To confirm, had the wife sit in each back seat, and place hand on the opposite side seat back to stop the rattle, and listen for the rattle w/o hand on the seat back. Both seat backs were rattling, actually.

To *fix*, ripped a strip of duct tape the width of the metal *loop* on the fixed part of the seat (side against window). Then wrapped twice around the loop, and slammed the seat into the loop to latch. After lowering the seat back a few times, the tape wears, and has to be replaced. But I don't lower the seat backs very often. So it has lasted a year so far. And very easy to replace the tape. The Acura TSB fix does not last much longer, depending upon how often you lower the seat backs.

Frankly, I originally could not hear the rattle with the radio on - and I cannot a similar rattle in my Chevy SUV because of all of the other rattles, so have never fixed the Chevy. And I am an engineer, so I consider my *fix* better than the TSB fix. Not sure what the wife thinks tho.

Thnx dcmodels- i have a gen2 RDX and dealer says no TSB so far but will keep on checking. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to happen more often when I have the tonneau cover in place.

Yes, I know that you have a gen-two, but the seats are basically the same, so look at the gen-one TSB 09-003, or ask the dealer for a copy. and I explained how to diagnose if that is the problem.

Or else the *tonneau* cover, which I assume is the cover over the rear area under the hatch, is rattling. On the gen-one the cover has some rubber isolators to prevent rattles. Good luck.
