Rear Noise?

Hey guys! I just purchased a 2014 RDX with the AWD package.

This is my first AWD car, so I don't have any experiences with these types of things... but I hear a faint "whirling" noise coming from underneath the car towards the rear. The whirling noise can best be described as a sound of an electric pump (kind of like a pump for an aquarium). It's not very loud, I can only hear it when it's pretty quiet (like in my garage).

Could this be the noise from the rear differential? or is it something not normal/worse?

I hear that same noise while in my garage when I'm programming the nav in accessory mode (engine off).

Do you hear it when everything is off and you are out of the vehicle?

Ah sorry I should have been more clear. This is with the engine on and I can hear it from outside my car.

I haven't listened to the car from the outside while it's running, but maybe it's the fuel pump. (My guess is that modern cars have a number of motors and pumps all over that would probably surprise us! )

In any case, IMHO, it's not a cause for worry. Besides, you'll be under warranty for a long time. If no one here chimes in as to what it is, just ask about it during your first service.

Enjoy the ride!

I think it's the fuel pump, in which case it's normal.
